KRISTJAN JÄRVI (b. 1972). His career as a conductor began
together with Absolute Ensemble, created by Kristjan himself in New York. For today, the Absolute Ensemble has already become a strong “trademark” in the USA and in Europe—they have tasted enormous success at festivals on both sides of the ocean. It just fits Kristjan to perform “The Arab Nights” or Frank Zappa today and the symphonies of Haydn or Mahler with some famous symphony orchestra tomorrow. He often performs in the Vienna Musikverein Goldener Saal with
his Tonkünstler Orchestra, being their Music Director since 2004.
He appears again and again with new famous orchestras and his rise to the podium of celebrities has been very fast, especially during the past years. Kristjan is also an adviser of the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
Wife: Hayley Järvi (flutist). Children: Lukas and Finn.
